My research focuses on the American South in the latter half of the twentieth century. I am particularly interested in questions of race and community, as well as how the past is remembered. As such, I find oral history a fascinating tool.

I am currently researching race relations and the “long civil rights movement” in a rural, majority-black county of Alabama.
